Four years after the Cayman S debuted, Porsche refreshed its sportier mid-engine sports coupe. This facelifted 987.2 Cayman version was even faster and improved its cornering speed. The enhanced package included updates from the exterior to the interior, and reworked engine, gearbox, and suspension. Despite the same internal coding (987C), it almost felt like a new model.
The 3.4ltr engine retained its displacement but gained a direct-fuel injection system, boosting power by 25hp. Transmission options included a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed PDK (double-clutch) automatic gearbox.
At the front, new headlights with larger main beams and stationary lamps were installed, while the fog lights were repositioned. The front grille was reshaped and made smaller. At the rear, redesigned taillights featured all-red LEDs, and the exhaust was updated to a twin-round unit, replacing the previous single rectangular one.
Inside, a new infotainment unit with a 5-inch screen and MP3-compatible CD player became standard. An optional Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen offered additional features, including Bluetooth connectivity.
