The drive shaft plays a crucial role in the vehicle’s powertrain, carrying engine torque from the transmission/differential out to the wheels. Its integral CV joints allow for:
• Smooth transfer of power, even at varying suspension angles
• Maintained traction and stability under acceleration and load
• Articulation with suspension movement without binding or vibration
Function:
• Transfers engine torque from differential to the driven wheels
• Accommodates suspension and wheel articulation through CV joints
• Helps maintain smooth rotation and traction under load
• Supports balanced handling and ride comfort.
The CV (constant-velocity) joints located at each end allow the shaft to operate at changing angles without significant friction or power loss, which is essential for independent suspension designs and high-performance driving.
Drive shafts and their CV joints operate under significant torque and load. Over time, wear can cause noise (especially clicking under turn), vibration, or reduced driving smoothness.
Replace the drive shaft assembly if you notice:
• Clicking or popping noises when turning
• Vibration under acceleration
• Grease leakage from torn or worn CV boots
• Excessive movement at the axle joint
• During differential, suspension, or CV joint service

A genuine Porsche original equipment (OE) rear drive shaft assembly, also referred to as a constant-velocity (CV) axle, installed between the rear differential and rear wheel hub to deliver drive torque in Porsche Cayenne (9YA) models equipped with 6-cylinder engines.
Sold each, Fits left and right side.
Fits:
Porsche 9YA.1 (E3) Cayenne V6 2.9L / 3.0L 2018 - 2023
Porsche 9YA.2 (E3 PA) Cayenne V6 3.0L 2023>>

* cars with option code: 1VH (Installation parts for 6-cylinder engine)
Diagram ref no 1
The drive shaft is a key part of the vehicle’s drivetrain system. It transfers rotational torque from the rear differential to the rear wheel hubs, enabling the wheels to drive the vehicle forward. The assembly includes constant-velocity (CV) joints and protective boots that allow the shaft to transmit power smoothly while accommodating suspension movement and changes in drive geometry.
Function:
• Transfers torque from the differential to the rear wheels.
• Provides smooth delivery of engine power to the driven wheels.
• Allows suspension articulation and wheel travel with minimal vibration.
• Supports traction and stability during acceleration, braking, and cornering.
The CV joints at each end ensure power is delivered efficiently even as the axle angles change under load or during suspension travel.
Rear drive shafts are subjected to continuous torque loads, rotational forces, and suspension movement. Over time, components such as CV joints and boots can wear, leading to:
• Clicking or popping noises when cornering
• Vibration or shuddering under acceleration
• Grease leakage from worn or torn CV boots
• Premature wear of associated drivetrain components
Replace the drive shaft assembly if:
• Excessive noise from CV joints when turning
• Vibration or judder is felt under acceleration
• CV boots are cracked, split, or leaking grease
• Play or looseness is observed during inspection
• Rear drivetrain or suspension components are being overhauled or upgraded

Diagram ref no 1
The drive shaft’s primary role is to transfer rotational power (torque) from the rear differential to the rear wheel hub. It works within the rear drivetrain to deliver engine power to the road, supporting acceleration, traction, stability, and overall vehicle dynamics. The CV joints within the shaft allow for power transmission even as the suspension articulates and road conditions change.
Function:
• Efficiently transmits engine torque to the rear wheel hub
• Accommodates suspension articulation and rear movement
• Maintains smooth, vibration-free power delivery
• Helps ensure consistent traction and stability under acceleration
The constant-velocity joints on each end allow the axle to operate effectively at varied angles without introducing noise, vibration, or harsh operating characteristics.
Drive shafts are essential components of the drive system. Over time and use, CV joints and boots can wear or fail due to constant torque, road shock, heat cycles, and environmental exposure. Symptoms of wear can include:
• Clicking or clunking noises when cornering
• Vibration during acceleration
• Visible grease leakage from torn CV boots
• Uneven power delivery or reduced traction.
Replacing a worn or damaged axle restores proper drivetrain behaviour, smooth power transfer, and reduces the risk of drivetrain damage that may arise from operating with compromised components.
Replace this drive shaft if:
• CV joints or boots are damaged or leaking
• There are audible noises under acceleration/turning
• Vibration is felt through the vehicle floor under load
• Inspection shows excessive play or wear in the axle
• Related rear suspension, differential, or drivetrain servicing is being performed

Only the right oil can guarantee continuous gear lubrication. Gear oils from febi are therefore precisely matched to the special requirements of vehicle manufacturers.
In addition to their favourable friction behaviour, febi gear oils offer optimal resistance to low temperatures and guarantee the best possible corrosion protection.
Quality by Conviction
Oils from febi are not universal products, but rather are tailored to the special requirements of vehicle manufacturers.
The gear oils offered consist of the most efficient base oils and modern additives. Thanks to their thermal stability, the oils are ideally resistant to ageing and provide maximum wear protection in all operating conditions.
Optimal Packaging Design
Gear oils from febi are an excellent choice. This is demonstrated not only by the quality - in many cases, febi transmission fluid even exceeds the requirements of vehicle manufacturers - but also by the user-friendly packaging design.
The clear labelling of the products through the use of color-coding makes their identification simple. Special recessed grips on the recyclable, leak-proof PE plastic bottles make filling noticeably easier. Viewing strips also provide information about the current filling level at all times.

Symptoms of a Bad Gearbox / Transmission
Recognising issues early can save money and prevent further damage. Look out for these tell-tale signs:
- Whining or Clunking Noises – humming, buzzing, or clunking often indicates failing bearings or internal wear.
- Lack of Response – delayed gear changes or hesitation means the transmission isn’t engaging correctly.
- Burning Smell – often caused by overheating transmission fluid or internal friction.
- Leaking Fluid – transmission fluid under the car is one of the clearest warning signs.
- Grinding Gears – in manuals, this can point to a worn clutch or synchronizer issues; in automatics, it may feel like rough, noticeable shifts.
Signs of a Bad Clutch
The clutch is critical for changing gears — and like all mechanical parts, it wears out over time. Depending on your driving style, a clutch can last anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 miles or more. Stop-start city driving, frequent gear changes, and aggressive driving can shorten its life.
Common symptoms of clutch failure include:
- Spongy, sticking, vibrating, or loose clutch pedal
- Squeaking or grumbling noises when pressing the clutch
- Engine revs but poor acceleration (slipping clutch)
- Difficulty engaging gears smoothly
- Momentary loss of acceleration during shifts
If you notice these issues, it’s best to arrange an inspection or replacement before further damage occurs.
