Wössner are regarded by Europe's leading motor sport engine builders as being the piston of choice when building an engine not only to perform, but to withstand the stresses and duress's of competition life. Wössner pistons feature a unique PTFE coating on the skirts and a grade of 4032 Alloy (T6) which allows the engine builder to run a closer piston to bore tolerance then he might do on another make of piston. This helps remove the slapping noise during cold start, common place among engines running forged pistons due to larger then OE bore clearances. The crowns of the pistons are also polished to better resist detonation on a high performance engine. Polishing allows a more even spread of heat inside the chamber which will help prevent "hot spots" on piston crowns. Price includes all piston rings and gudgeon pins.
Price shown is for complete engine set.

Wössner Forged Piston Kits - High-Performance Porsche Engine Upgrades
Wössner Forged Piston Kits are engineered for high-performance and motorsport-grade Porsche engines where strength, precision, and reliability are critical. Manufactured from premium forged aluminium alloys, Wössner pistons offer superior durability and thermal stability compared to standard cast pistons, making them ideal for tuned, rebuilt, or track-driven Porsche engines.
Available from Design911, these piston kits are designed to withstand higher compression ratios, increased cylinder pressures, and extreme operating temperatures, delivering improved engine longevity and performance under demanding conditions.
What Do Wössner Forged Piston Kits Do?
Wössner forged pistons replace factory cast pistons to strengthen the engine’s rotating assembly and improve performance resilience.
Core Functions:
- Increase piston strength under high load and temperature.
- Improve resistance to detonation and thermal fatigue.
- Support higher RPM, boost, and compression levels.
- Enhance reliability in tuned or rebuilt Porsche engines.
- Provide precise tolerances for performance engine builds.
These kits form a critical foundation for safe and reliable engine tuning.
Why Do Standard Pistons Fail?
Factory cast pistons are designed for standard power output
and daily driving conditions. Under performance use, they can fail due to:
- Excessive heat causing cracking or melting.
- Detonation leading to piston crown or ring land damage.
- Increased cylinder pressures from tuning or forced induction.
- Fatigue from high RPM or track use.
- Oil control issues and piston skirt wear over time.
Once these limits are exceeded, catastrophic engine damage can occur.
Why Upgrade to Wössner Forged Pistons?
Wössner forged pistons are purpose-built to handle extreme engine conditions.
Upgrade Benefits:
- Forged aluminium construction for superior strength.
- Enhanced heat dissipation and thermal stability.
- Stronger ring lands and skirt design.
- Suitable for turbocharged, supercharged, and high-compression builds.
- Trusted by professional engine builders and motorsport teams.
Upgrading to forged pistons significantly reduces the risk of piston failure while unlocking safe performance gains.
