What This Product Does:

• The timing chain synchronises the crankshaft with other components — here especially linking to the oil pump / cam drive path — so that the engine’s valves operate at the correct times relative to piston movement.
• Over time, chains can stretch, guides may wear, tensioners may degrade — all of which will allow slack in the drive, noise, timing drift or even failure.
• Essentially, this chain is a critical link in the engine’s timing system — it must stay within spec to ensure the engine runs as designed.

When You Should Consider Replacement:

• Rattling or clattering noise from the engine’s timing‐cover area, especially on cold start, idle or at low revs. Slack chain often causes this.
  
• Timing-related fault codes — cam/ crank correlation errors, or variable valve timing issues that could stem from chain/tensioning irregularity.
