What This Product Does:

  • In a torsion-bar rear suspension design (used on these Porsche models), the spring plate is the mount at which the torsion bar ends and transmits spring load into the chassis/suspension mount. The bushings and plate determine how well the torsion bar is anchored, how consistent ride height is, and how the rear axle reacts under load.
  • An adjustable spring plate adds the ability to fine-tune ride height and torsion bar preload (via indexing) without extensive disassembly. That means you can more easily correct for lowering, increased spring rate, or varying loads.
  • Good spring plates help maintain consistent rear geometry (camber, toe), correct ride height, minimal unwanted movement and crisp behaviour under load (cornering, acceleration, braking).

Symptoms & Signs Of Wear / When You Need To Replace Or Upgrade:
  • Rear ride height is inconsistent, one side sits lower/higher, or you cannot achieve correct ride height despite adjusting torsion bar indexing.
  • Rear suspension feels vague, “loose” in corners, or the car doesn’t handle the rear end with precision — the torsion bar mount may be worn or deflecting.
  • Uneven or accelerated tyre wear on rear tyres (especially inner/outer shoulders) due to shifting geometry under load.
  • When lowering the car or upgrading suspension, you cannot set ride height or preload easily because you are limited by fixed plates. An adjustable version reduces that limitation.
  • Visual signs of degradation: bushings in the spring plate may be cracked, collapsed or show metal-to-metal contact; the plate may show corrosion, wear marks or may be the non-adjustable version but you’d prefer adjustability.

Why Replacement / Upgrade Matters:
  • For road use, upgrading to an adjustable set means your rear suspension is easier to tune, more consistent, and likely to hold its geometry better.
  • If you’ve modified your car (lowered, stiffer springs, wider tyres, track use), the factory non-adjustable plates become a weak link — the upgrade ensures the rest of the suspension upgrades perform as intended.
  • A well-mounted spring plate reduces unwanted movement, improves ride height accuracy, and improves stability and tyre life.
  • Replacing old or worn spring plates renews the rear suspension foundation — this is especially valuable in cars of this era, where wear and age may have compromised original components.
  • From a resale/restoration perspective: an adjustable plate set signals that you’ve invested in chassis tuning and correct mounting hardware.

Porsche 924 1976-88
Porsche 944 / S / S2 / Turbo 1982-91
Porsche 968 1992-95

These thrust bearings are a welded steel construction with electrogalvanized and powder coated finish. They connect the rear axle tube to the body. After the years, the original thrust bearings are usually worn out and porous. There are no original replacements, and thus an overly spongy rear axle is a problem on many 924-968s.
This rigid version is suitable for both street use and motorsports.

Its advantages:
• Wearless design
• More directly guided rear axle and therefore less spongy handling.
• Elimination of rumbling noises due to worn out rubber thrust bearings.
• Excellent build quality

Thanks to the design, installation is possible without removing the rear axle!

OEM Spec Spring Plate Bushings

A true OEM spec bushing replacement for spring plates.
Spring plate bushing condition can be accessed by looking at the hole is the spring plate cover. It should be concentric around the spring plate. When the bushings deform, the cover becomes non-concentric around the spring plate and in extreme cases actually contacts the cover plate – metal-to-metal.

More than just bushings, this is a full kit that includes inner and outer bushings (4 pcs), adhesive, instructions and abrasive cloth to prep the surface.
Restore Ride and Performance

Rubber is the choice if you want to restore factory ride and performance in a zero-maintenance solution.

What This Product Does:

  • On a torsion-bar rear suspension setup (as used by these Porsche models), the spring plate is the component that anchors the torsion bar end and transmits its twist into the chassis. The bushings in the plate allow rotation under load while isolating vibration and preventing metal-to-metal contact.
  • Over time, the bushings can deform, compress or degrade, which leads to increased movement of the spring plate, changes in ride height or alignment, and poorer handling. The kit replaces this mounting bush to restore proper behavior.
  • By installing the fresh bushings, the rear torsion bar and spring plate regain correct movement, maintain ride height, reduce noise and preserve rear suspension geometry under load (cornering, acceleration, braking).

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
  • Clunking or knocking noises from the rear over bumps or during load transitions, indicating movement in the spring plate or mount.
  • Rear sagging or inconsistent ride height, especially on one side — due to bushing collapse or excessive compliance.
  • Rear end feels vague or loose in corners, or the suspension doesn’t behave as sharply under load.
  • Uneven tyre wear on the rear due to shifting geometry under load.
  • On inspection: the spring plate cover hole is no longer concentric around the bar (the bushings have deformed) or you see metal-to-metal contact between plate and cover.

Why Replacement Matters:
  • Restores suspension geometry integrity: fresh bushings help the torsion bar and spring plate mount maintain correct positioning, ensuring alignment and ride height are as intended.
  • Removes unwanted rear suspension movement: by replacing worn components you regain sharper handling, better driver feedback and improved ride quality.
  • Eliminates noise and harshness: degraded bushings can lead to audible knocks, excessive vibration or an imprecise feel — replacing them brings back refinement.
  • Supports other suspension upgrades: if you’ve upgraded springs, bars or tyres, having new bushings ensures nothing in the rear mount is holding back performance.
  • Prevents secondary wear: when bushings are worn, other rear suspension components carry extra load or misalignment, accelerating their wear; replacing the kit reduces that risk.

What This Product Does:
  • The spring plate is part of the rear torsion bar suspension system. It provides the rotating / mounting surface for the torsion bar at the rear end.
  • The bushings in that plate isolate vibration and reduce noise by absorbing some of the movement, preventing metal-on-metal contact.
  • As the torsion bar twists under load (e.g. when hitting bumps or supporting chassis load), the plate and bushings maintain alignment and reduce play.
  • The correct functioning of this component is crucial in maintaining ride height, rear suspension geometry, and smooth behavior of the torsion bar system.

Symptoms When It Fails Or Wears:
  • Clunking, knocking noises from the rear under load or over bumps
  • Suspension height drift or sagging in one corner, due to reduced torsional resistance
  • Excessive vibration or harshness through the rear structure
  • Metal contact or rubbing noises if the bushing is too worn and allows the plate or torsion bar to contact its housing
  • Uneven rear handling response, especially during load transitions or cornering

Why Replacement Matters:
  • Restores Suspension Geometry – Keeps torsion bars aligned and balanced for consistent handling.
  • Improves Comfort – Fresh bushings absorb vibration and road shocks, restoring ride quality.
  • Eliminates Noise – Prevents knocking and squeaks caused by deteriorated rubber.
  • Ensures Safety & Stability – Maintains traction and control during cornering and braking.
  • Preserves Original Performance – Essential for Porsche 924, 944 and 968 restorations or suspension rebuilds.

High Performance Bushing Replacement - No Squeaks
Protected by US Patent 7,325,796

Want to experience precision driving, faster lap times, improved road feel and feedback?

Our patented PolyBronze suspension bearings set a new standard for performance, ride quality and ease-of-installation.
Regular polyurethane/plastic suspension bushings are obsolete!

PolyBronze is a precision bronze bearing encased in a polyurethane jacket. The combination delivers a smooth-ride with the extreme performance of a metal bearing.

• No Squeaks
• Smooth ride quality
• Easy installation
• Integral Grease fittings and grooves
• Extremely low friction

PolyBronze bearings are superior to plastic bushing alternatives, here's why:

Suspension mounts are coarse sheet metal pressings. They tend to be out-of-round and have irregularities that deform ordinary polyurethane bushings, pinching and binding the friction surface. Polyurethane is "grippy" with an inherently high coefficient of friction and combined with pinching polyurethane bushings create a lot of friction. The result is a harsh ride and reduced tyre adhesion.

PolyBronze have a rigid bronze bearing core that does not deform. The polyurethane jacket absorbs mount irregularities while the bronze inner bearing remains true, providing a free-moving machined-fit that rides on a precision race. Provided grease fittings make re-lubrication a breeze and a figure 8 groove keeps grease in place.

The combination delivers zero squeaks and friction-free suspension movement. Well suited to street or track, ride quality. PolyBronze bearings replace compressible factory rubber bushings.
