This grommet is often replaced during washer system service, reservoir removal, pump replacement, or restoration of classic Porsche vehicles where the original rubber has deteriorated over time.
The washer pump grommet creates a watertight seal between the washer pump and the reservoir or body opening, preventing fluid leaks and contamination. Its flexible rubber construction also absorbs pump vibration, reducing noise and mechanical stress, helping the windscreen washer system operate smoothly, quietly, and reliably.
Over time, original washer pump grommets can become brittle, cracked, shrunken, or deformed due to exposure to heat, ozone, washer fluid, and age. A compromised grommet may allow washer fluid to leak, pump vibration to increase, or even cause corrosion or damage to surrounding bodywork. Replacing worn grommets with Genuine Porsche OE ensures proper sealing, preserves vehicle integrity, and maintains original equipment performance and quiet operation.
When to replace:
