Front Aluminium Cross Member. Porsche 911 1965-89 / 930 / 914

The 911 341 013 10 is an aluminium front cross-member, also known as an auxiliary support. Its primary function is to carry suspension loads and maintain proper alignment of the front control arms, steering rack, and related substructures.

On vehicles originally equipped with a steel cross-member, converting to this aluminium version requires two additional mounting brackets (part number 911 341 031 01) for proper installation. In essence, this part is a structural component of the front end that directly supports suspension geometry and ensures stable alignment.

Technical / Material Considerations & Properties

Weight savings: Aluminium is significantly lighter than steel. The use of aluminium here reduces the sprung mass (mass carried by the suspension) which can improve responsiveness in handling. Mounting hardware & bushings: 

The aluminium cross-member is only as good as its mounting points, brackets, and isolating bushings. Bolts, washers, cups, and bushes must be properly specified (torques, pre-load, orientation) to avoid introducing stress concentrations or deforming the part.
