Connecting-rod bearing shell replaces the factory big-end bearing used on classic air-cooled Porsche flat-six engines 911 SC 3.0L. It supports the rod big end on the crankshaft journal, creating a hydrodynamic oil film for low-friction rotation and stable oil pressure.

•  Fits inside the connecting rod big end around the crank journal; one upper + one lower shell per rod.
•  Maintains oil film, controls clearance, and protects the crank journal under load.

Rod bearings gradually wear due to mileage, heat, and oil starvation, leading to scoring, uneven surfaces, and reduced oil pressure — all of which increase the risk of rod knock. They should be replaced whenever the engine bottom end is opened, during rebuilds, or if low oil pressure, metallic debris in oil, or audible knocking is detected — a standard preventive step in engine service.
